Odenplan is a square situated in the Vasastan district of Stockholm. It is situated where the streets Norrtullsgatan, Upplandsgatan, Odengatan and Karlbergsvägen converge. Gustav Vasa Church can be found at Odenplan. It was designed by Agi Lindegren and inaugurated in 1906. The underground station at Odenplan opened in 1952.
In the year 2000, Odenplan was completely transformed according to a concept by the sculptor Leif Bolter and architects Kjell Forshed and Sture Koinberg. The intention was to restore its local character
In 1759, just south of Gustav Vasa Church, Peter Jonas Bergius built a botanical garden, which was christened Bergielund. In 1885, now with the name the Bergian Garden, it was moved to Frescati.
Odenplan has played an ”important” role in Swedish film history. It was here that the helicopter crashed landed in Bo Widerberg’s film Mannen på taket (The man on the roof).
